The full name of KCC in South Korea is Korea Communication Commission. According to Article 33 of the Basic Law on Electrical Communications and Articles 46 and 57 of the Radio Waves Act, a certification system for broadcasting and communication equipment has been established. The system requires that all products specified in Article 3 of the Broadcasting and Communication Equipment Certification Regulations should obtain KCC certification in advance.
The KCC mark evolved from the MIC mark. Since the Korea Communications Commission (KCC) replaced the Ministry of Information and Communication (MIC), the certification name has been changed accordingly. KCC came into effect on November 11, 2008, and will evolve into the KC mark on January 1, 2011.
KCC targets the electromagnetic compatibility requirements of information products and regulates the certification of wireless transmission and communication products, including electrical communication equipment, wireless radio frequency products, information technology equipment, etc. The KCC mark is a certification mark issued by the Korea Radio Research Agency (RRA) of the Korea Radio Communications Commission.
