2. Decisions are made based on the product information provided
When the product information is complete, UL engineers make the following decisions based on the information: the UL standard on which the experiment is based, the engineering cost of the test, the time of the test, the number of samples, etc., and notify you in writing, and send the formal application form and tracking service agreement to your company. The application form indicates the cost limit, which is the maximum engineering cost estimated by UL based on the test items. Without your company's written authorization, the cost limit cannot be exceeded.
3. The application company remits money, sends back the application form and samples
The UL certification applicant signs the application form and tracking service agreement, and sends the form back to UL. At the same time, the bank transfer is made, and the samples are sent at the post office or by express delivery. Please provide appropriate descriptions of the samples for inspection (such as name and model). Please send the application form and samples separately. For each application project, UL will assign a unique project number (Project No.). When remitting money, sending samples and application forms, indicate the project number and the name of the applicant company for UL to check.
4. Product testing
After receiving the application form, remittance and experimental samples signed by your company, UL will notify you of the completion time of the experimental plan. Product testing is generally carried out in UL laboratories in the United States. UL can also accept audited third-party test data. The experimental samples will be returned or destroyed according to your requirements. If the product test results meet the requirements of UL standards, UL will issue a test report and follow-up service procedures. The test report will detail the test conditions, the indicators achieved by the sample, the product structure and the safety marks suitable for the product. The follow-up service procedures include a description of the product and instructions for UL regional inspectors. A copy of the test report is sent to the applicant company, and a copy of the follow-up service procedures is sent to each production plant.
5. The applicant is authorized to use the UL mark
The UL regional inspector in China contacts the production plant for the first factory inspection (Initial Production Inspection
.IPI). The inspector checks the storage of your products and their components on the production line and in the warehouse to confirm whether the product structure and parts are consistent with the follow-up service procedures. If required in the procedures, the regional inspector will also conduct a witness experiment. When the inspection results meet the requirements, the applicant is authorized to use the UL mark.
Necessity of UL
Products sold in the US market require mandatory UL certification. Whether it is a product in the US or exported to other countries, UL certification testing is required. We can see that many electronic products on the market have UL certification marks. This is a test of product conduction and radiation. It is of great significance in the US market. UL certification is an important passport and pass in the US market. Only products with this mark can smoothly enter the US market.
