Mandatory standards for stationery are introduced

Stationery frequently used by students every day is related to their physical health and even life safety. The "General Safety Requirements for Student Supplies" standard GB21027-2007, jointly issued by multiple ministries and commissions, was officially implemented on April 1, 2008. "General Requirements" is a mandatory general standard, and products that do not meet technical specifications and safety standards will not be sold on the market.

Specific contents of stationery standards

■ The maximum limits of the migratable elements antimony, arsenic, barium, cadmium, chromium, lead, mercury and selenium are stipulated;

■ The benzene content in the organic solvent of the altered products is stipulated, and chlorinated hydrocarbons should not be contained;

■ The content of free formaldehyde, benzene and xylene in adhesives is stipulated;

■ The formaldehyde content in stationery shall not exceed 300mg/kg;

■ The content of aromatic amines in the dyes used in student supplies is stipulated;

■ The brightness limit of student books;

■ Safety regulations are made for the size of pen caps;

■ The edges of handmade scissors, blades, pencil sharpeners, drawing rulers, pencil cases, etc. are stipulated.

Physical test contents of stationery

Pen test

Dimension inspection, functionality and life test, writing quality, special environment test, safety test of pen caps and pen caps.

Paper test

Weight, thickness, smoothness, air permeability, roughness, whiteness, tensile strength, tear strength, PH determination, etc.

Adhesive test

Viscosity, cold and heat resistance, solid content, peel strength (90 degree peeling and 180 degree peeling), PH determination, etc.

Other tests such as staplers, punchers, etc.

Generally, some size and functional verification and the hardness, rust resistance, and overall impact resistance of metal parts can be done.

Export to Europe and the United States generally requires completion of chemical testing requirements and functional testing.

Children's stationery

En 71-1, En 71-2, En71-3, Cd, N71-9 and Phthalates, TRA evaluation. Exports to the United States generally require passing the LHAMA test and meeting the requirements of ASTM F963. If it is a liquid, it will also involve USP51 and USP61 testing.
